Remove the air damper removing any screws holding the conduit cover or damper cover into place pulling the covers off as well. The thermostat sensor will be around the damper which you can easily take off. The evaporator fan motor draws cold air over the evaporator coils and circulates it throughout the freezer. To determine if the start capacitor is defective test it with a multimeter.

I opened inside rear of freezer and found top 4 or so of coils frozen with ice. If your side by side refrigerator isn t as cool as it should be and frost is forming in the freezer a failed defrost sensor could be to blame. If your fridge is experiencing water buildup where your food is or ice buildup in the freezer most likely you re dealing with a frost problem or clogged defrost drain. If the evaporator fan is not working the freezer or refrigerator will not cool adequately.

Beneath the water collection pan is a drain hole. Freezer is cool on bottom as is fridge but neither is effective. If the start capacitor is defective replace it. If the start capacitor isn t working the compressor may not start.

Tech put in new 3 n 1 relay yesterday and 24 hours later the freezer is not cold enough. The start capacitor provides a boost of power to the compressor during start up. Use a multimeter to test the start relay for continuity between the start and run terminals. If the compressor won t run the freezer will not cool.

In your fridge directly below the evaporator there s a water collection pan. On a side by side freezer fridge the air damper should be located in the upper left corner of the fridge.
